Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer
The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer leads the delivery of disaster risk reduction and emergency services in the Municipality of New Corella. The office develops and implements disaster preparedness programs, conducts risk assessments, manages hazard and vulnerability information, coordinates emergency response, and supports recovery and rehabilitation efforts.
Through prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response, rehabilitation, and recovery programs, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office helps protect lives, property, communities, and the environment from disasters, calamities, and emergencies.
Mandate
Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Services are mandated to lead, develop, execute, and coordinate comprehensive disaster risk management programs to protect lives, property, and the environment within the municipality. These services include local risk assessments, contingency planning, hazard and vulnerability data gathering, local risk map management, creation and implementation of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan, integration of disaster risk reduction into local development plans and budgets, community preparedness activities, early warning support, emergency response coordination, disaster relief, search and rescue support, and rehabilitation and recovery assistance.

To reduce disaster risks and vulnerabilities through effective planning, preparedness, and community awareness.
To strengthen local capacity for emergency response, early warning, evacuation, and disaster coordination.
To conduct risk assessments, maintain hazard information, and support evidence-based disaster planning.
To provide immediate and appropriate assistance during and after disasters and emergencies.
To support search, rescue, relief, rehabilitation, and recovery operations in coordination with concerned agencies and communities.
To promote disaster resilience, public service continuity, and accountable use of disaster risk reduction resources.

Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Services aim to achieve integrated disaster risk management, reduced vulnerability and risk, enhanced local capacity, effective early warning and response, informed and prepared communities, accountable resource utilization, and continuous delivery of essential public services during emergencies and disasters.
