Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer

The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer leads the delivery of environmental services in the Municipality of New Corella. The office manages, conserves, preserves, and protects the local environment and natural resources to support ecological balance, public health, and sustainable development.

Through solid waste management, environmental compliance monitoring, pollution prevention, reforestation support, public awareness campaigns, and environmental rehabilitation, the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office helps build a cleaner, safer, and more resilient New Corella.

 

Mandate

Environmental Services are mandated to manage, conserve, preserve, and protect the local environment and natural resources to ensure ecological balance and sustainable development within the municipality. These services include the development and implementation of environmental programs, ecological solid waste management, waste segregation enforcement, garbage collection coordination, proper waste disposal, monitoring of households and establishments, protection of communal forests and watersheds, seedling production and reforestation support, enforcement of environmental laws and ordinances, prevention of illegal cutting, forest fires, illegal logging, and pollution, coordination with agencies for land, air, and water pollution control, environmental education campaigns, and environmental rehabilitation after calamities.

To provide effective and responsive environmental services for the people of New Corella.

To strengthen ecological solid waste management, waste segregation, and proper waste disposal.

To protect and conserve communal forests, watersheds, and natural resources.

To enforce environmental laws, ordinances, and compliance standards.

To prevent and control land, air, and water pollution through coordination and monitoring.

To promote environmental awareness, education, and community participation.

To support climate change adaptation, disaster resilience, and environmental rehabilitation.

Environmental Services aim to achieve effective solid waste management, enhanced environmental protection and conservation, strengthened law enforcement and compliance, increased community and stakeholder participation, climate change adaptation and disaster resilience, and data-driven planning and policy making.
