The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer leads the office in implementing environmental programs, enforcing environmental laws and ordinances, coordinating waste management efforts, protecting communal forests and watersheds, and promoting public participation in environmental conservation.

Through environmental protection, sustainable resource management, pollution control, and community education, the office helps build a cleaner, safer, climate-resilient, and ecologically balanced New Corella.

Mandate

The Municipal Environment & Natural Resources Office is mandated to manage, conserve, preserve, and protect the local environment and natural resources to ensure ecological balance and sustainable development within the municipality. It develops and implements plans and strategies for environmental and natural resources programs and projects, oversees the implementation of the municipal ecological solid waste management program, promotes and enforces waste segregation and waste minimization, coordinates garbage collection and proper waste disposal, monitors compliance with solid waste management ordinances, establishes and protects communal forests and watersheds, manages seed banks and seedlings for reforestation, enforces environmental codes and laws, helps prevent illegal cutting, forest fires, illegal logging, and pollution, coordinates with agencies and organizations for pollution prevention and control, conducts environmental awareness campaigns, supports environmental rehabilitation after calamities, and performs other duties required by law or ordinance.
